Johnson County VASIA
VASIA's mission is to provide public guardianship services to seniors and incapacitated adults. VASIA consists of a team of volunteer advocates who help seniors and incapacitated adults in the Johnson & Shelby County areas achieve the highest degree of independence possible, while also assisting them with maintaining the greatest degree of health, comfort and safety.
VASIA serves adults over the age of 18 years old. Those served are diagnosed by a physician as being mentally or medically incapacitated. The adult is also without a willing, able or suitable relative or significant person to serve as guardian. A county judge rules that the person needs guardianship and then assigns VASIA. To be eligible for VASIA services, the adult must reside in Johnson or Shelby County and live in a residential facility.
Anyone can submit a referral to our public guardianship program. To complete a referral, please visit our website at www.indianavasia.org.
