Community Resources: Abuse/Neglect

Child and elder abuse and neglect are serious societal issues that involve the mistreatment or failure to provide adequate care for vulnerable individuals. Child abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, or sexual harm, as well as neglect, where basic needs such as food, shelter, and medical care are unmet. Elder abuse encompasses physical harm, emotional mistreatment, financial exploitation, or neglect, often perpetrated by caregivers or family members. Both forms of abuse can have devastating long-term physical, emotional, and psychological effects on the victims, emphasizing the need for vigilant awareness, reporting, and intervention to protect and support affected individuals.
